Project: Bespoke Media Unit
From Sketch to Site: A Bespoke Media Unit Built for Precision
Duncan Glenn Joinery came to us with a simple sketch of a bespoke media unit. Their goal? Turn it into a professional, build-ready design package that would impress their client, speed up production, and ensure a smooth installation.
Challenges & Solutions
This project involved several complexities typical of fitted joinery:
Designing around a central fireplace with a bridge unit
Balancing depth and proportions between the base and upper units
Integrating lighting (LED strips) seamlessly into the design
Ensuring all elements aligned with room dimensions, moulding styles, and client expectations
As with many bespoke builds, the initial sketch was strong in concept, but required precise technical translation to avoid errors during production and installation.
Our Approach
Clifford Design House provided a full end-to-end CAD solution, including:
Room-accurate 3D visuals for client sign-off
Detailed general arrangement (GA) and technical drawings
Workshop and assembly drawings
Cut lists, cutting diagrams and CNC-ready files
Finish and fitting schedules (e.g. inset 25mm shaker doors, 70mm cornice, LED lighting specs)
Branded documentation for Duncan to share with his client
The result was a ready-to-manufacture package tailored to Duncan’s build process, saving time and reducing any risk of miscommunication.
The Final Result
With the final design approved, Duncan had everything he needed to move into production with confidence. The project came together exactly as envisioned—seamlessly integrating traditional shaker detailing, custom cornicing, lighting, and smart proportions.
