From Sketch to CAD Coordination: Crafting a Bespoke Kitchen for Ashcrest Joinery

At Clifford Design House, we collaborate with joinery and trade professionals to transform early design concepts into fully production-ready CAD packages.

This bespoke kitchen project with Ashcrest Joinery is a perfect example of how clear communication, technical accuracy, and well-structured documentation can take a project from hand-drawn sketches to a workshop-ready design, smoothly and efficiently.

Challenges & Solutions

The challenge: Ashcrest Joinery approached us with a set of hand-drawn layout sketches, a room survey, and a detailed appliance schedule. The goal was to turn these early-stage materials into a precise, coordinated CAD model that could transition seamlessly into manufacture, while maintaining design integrity and build practicality.

Our solution: We developed a complete CAD model that reflected every site detail, appliance integration, and spatial requirement. By translating hand sketches into accurate technical drawings, we created a clear, buildable plan that balanced design intent with manufacturing precision.

Our Approach

Once the core layout was approved, we aligned every CAD component with Ashcrest’s in-house manufacturing standards, including construction details, joinery methods, and preferred materials. This ensured our workshop drawings and cut lists dropped straight into their workflow with minimal setup time.

We also integrated client-approved materials and finishes, confirming every element, from door styles and worktops to internal specifications, matched both the aesthetic vision and the practical demands of fabrication.

The Final Result

After final sign-off, we delivered a complete manufacturing package, including:

  • Detailed cut lists for every component

  • Optimised cutting diagrams to improve material yield

  • Fully labelled workshop drawings, broken down by carcass and cross-referenced with the cut lists

This package gave Ashcrest’s workshop a clear, step-by-step roadmap for manufacture, reducing errors, saving time, and ensuring a flawless fit on-site.

This collaboration with Ashcrest Joinery highlights how design coordination adds value to trade partnerships. By combining accurate CAD documentation with Ashcrest’s craftsmanship, we created a smooth, efficient process, turning early sketches into a production-ready design that delivered precision from concept to completion.
